Imperfect Art Redeemed originates from the Japanese traditions of Boro-the mending of garments using patches of salvaged fabrics and Sashiko-a stitching method used to reinforce the patchwork. Influenced by this centuries-old practice, I salvage discarded paintings and rebuild their surfaces with layers of mixed media. I then tear the canvases apart, creating fragments of abstract art. These fragments are reassembled into 3D patchwork designs and reinforced with twine. This restorative process transforms and redeems salvaged artwork as an expression of repurpose and renewal.
